😱 Shocking: Half a semester learning in 2 hours?

I read a post on LinkedIn that said, “We figured out how to gain a half semester of learning in two hours of instruction.”

I had to read that line a few times.

It sounded too good to be true!

So I sent the author of the post a message about the Do School Different POV and asked him to join my on the RuckusCast and tell his story.

Now I’m not a neuroscientist and I don’t play one on the internet (yet — growth mindset + anything is possible with AI lololol) …

But Simon tells a captivating story of delivering video instruction that is scripted, focused, and fast. And he’s seeing some incredible results.

So the lesson: If we can deliver a half semester of learning in just two hours, why aren’t we doing that on campuses worldwide?

This is a perfect illustration of the 80/20 principle — one of the most popular concepts I teach Ruckus Makers.

The 80/20 principle (aka Pareto’s Principle) states that 20% of inputs create 80% of your results.

In the school setting:

• 80% of your referrals come from 20% of your students.

• 80% of your headaches come from 20% of your parents (who gave them a license to have children btw???).

• 80% of your student achievement gains come from 20% of your teachers.

Go ahead and test this principle for yourself.

Ignore 80/20, and you’ll spend 80% of your energy on headaches instead of breakthroughs.

It’s something Simon Strong seems to have figured out and is testing in the UK.
