I asked a principal recently what was on her Assistant Principal's calendar for the week.
She sighed and said, "Literally nothing".
No classroom walkthroughs. No teacher meetings. Just blank space.
He clocks in, he clocks out, and if he has a spare few minutes, maybe he wanders into a classroom.
The result?
She spends a good portion of her entire week chasing him.
She is constantly running after him to find out what he’s doing, if he’s followed up on discipline, and if he’s hitting his goals.
She doesn’t have the capacity for that. And neither do you.
Maybe you need to hear this today: You cannot lead a school by accident.
High-functioning people live by their calendar.
If you are a leader, you don’t wait for the principal to tell you what to do. You anticipate the needs of the school. You fill the buckets.
This applies to you, too:
If you feel like you are constantly micromanaging your team, it’s usually a systems problem.
You need a structure where they report up to you, rather than you hunting down information from them.
You need to shift from "What did you do today?" to "Show me your plan for next week."
This is exactly what we work on in our coaching programs. We build the systems that allow your school to run itself — what I call The Automatic School™.
If you want to stop chasing your team and start empowering them to lead...
Then let's talk.
Schedule an exploration call to see if private coaching or the mastermind is a better fit for you. Both can help you refine your systems (and your calendar).
