Feeling stagnant? Me too.

Ten years into building Better Leaders Better Schools and Ruckus Makers, I just realized something that stopped me cold …

I lost my personal hobbies.

Don’t get me wrong … I am consistent in the gym. I love to meditate. I hike and get outside regularly.

And yes … I still play video games :)

But I have a nagging sense I should be doing more — just for me.

So this past week I’ve done two things I’m super excited about.

  1. I signed up for guitar lessons.

  2. I signed up for an intro to improv class.

Now you know I LOVE my work.

I argue I have the BEST job in the world because I work with Ruckus Makers who want to Do School Different. None are “forced” to work with me. They all have picked themselves and found a way to invest in their leadership development.

So it’s easy to be all work.

And I do find ways to “play” and have fun in my work. It’s a great gig.

But personally, I feel a bit stagnant.

Maybe you can relate.?

I realized I wasn’t pursuing hobbies like I used to.

Life is short.

It’s a shame if we give it all to work.

I’m super excited as well to see how the guitar and improv impacts my life and my work.

So my question to you: What hobby or activity are you trying now?

Something that maybe scares you a bit, but is also exciting?

Hit “reply” to this email and let me know.

I’d love to read what you are up to these days.

Keep Making a Ruckus,

Danny

PS … Tomorrow’s RuckusCast is a fun one. Mitch Weathers is back for a special “Adorable Red Hats” version of the show. If you’re not yet subscribed, you can do so on Apple, Spotify, or YouTube.
