5 Steps to Improve Your School

This post got 400 likes and 70 comments on Facebook so I wanted to document it here on The Ruckus Maker Newsletter for you ❤️
Step One: Give your leadership team this prompt …
I want you to brainstorm for 5-minutes all the things that we can improve on our campus. What's broken? What's not operating at an optimal level? What could be made better and take us to the next level?
Let the team know that you're not going to have a discussion today about HOW to do the improving, the focus is to just generate a list.
Do not repeat something that has been said. If you've written down an idea that has already been shared, great, just share the original ideas you have.
Step Three: Capture your team's ideas in one place.
It can be a whiteboard, chart paper, a digital note, or your journal.
Step Four: Prioritize your list of improvement ideas on your own.
You’re the leader, so lead.
Rank order this list from the first to last suggestion.
Step Five: At each subsequent leadership team meeting, work on one idea.
I mean it. One idea.
That's it. It's tiny. It's manageable. It's doable.
It creates momentum.
Record everything discussed.
Voila ... you just created a "process" document.
“The way we do things around here.”
Not only are you improving an aspect of your school each week ...
By writing down the process, you are also creating training material for new staff in the future.
If you are courageous enough to try this out for the remainder of the year ...
And you'd like to share the amazing results you experience because you executed on this idea ...

I'd love to host you on #1 most downloaded podcast for school leaders and celebrate your wins.
Just leave a comment on this post and I’ll reach out with a way to connect.
I only want to talk to Ruckus Makers that Do School Different™. This is one way to “do different” and create something new and remarkable on your campus.
Will you be my next success story?
